SEUPHOR 1901-2001: THREE EXHIBITIONS IN ANTWERP

In 2001, three exhibitions celebrated the arrival of Seuphor’s archive and library in Antwerp, just 100 years after his birth in 1901.

In the Hessenhuis numerous lacuna drawings lent by the heirs and a large selection of archival documents were exhibited. A bilingual French-Dutch catalog was published.

The Hendrik Conscience Library exhibited the literary works and also produced a catalog containing in particular a CD recording of Seuphor reciting his poems (this is a reworking of the CD “Hommage à cercle et carré, sept poèmes de 1927 à 1963” which was made for Seuphor by his friend the Swiss sculptor Gottfried Honegger in 1964).

The Middelheim museum organized a walk along the sculptures of artists referred to by Seuphor in The Sculpture of this Century.
