EXHIBITION OF THE 64 HEXAGRAMS OF I-CHING BY MICHEL SEUPHOR AT THE 14TH BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY ART IN SHANGHAI
At the 14th Shanghai Biennale of Contemporary Art, “Cosmos Cinema”, from November 9, 2023 to March 31, 2024, you can admire the 64 hexagrams of the Yi-King seen by Michel Seuphor, masterfully exhibited in 64 display cases that unfold like a book.
These works executed between December 10, 1977 and January 15, 1978 invite us to enter the I Ching through the graphic interpretation of the lacuna drawings with horizontal lines which are the particular signature of Seuphor’s visual art. An exceptional opportunity to discover the spiritual dimensions of Seuphor’s graphic art in relation with the oldest Chinese divinatory and philosophical treatise.
